At this point in the blog, we will dedicate today's article to the advantages offered by new technologies such as network connection speed and stability. This is a more technical question than on other occasions, but it is worth dealing with this subject since it is about technologies focused on offering better connection speed, better stability and reliability of our Wi-Fi networks . Everyone knows the terms 4G or LTE, but really what is it and what are its advantages? It is simply a communication protocol, that is to say the way of communication used by a portable terminal, such as a mobile phone, with the data network of the telephone operator. Currently this protocol is only available to operators in large cities, but it is gradually spreading and it is easy to foresee a massive deployment in the coming years.

However, to be able to take advantage of this new protocol, our mobile terminal must be able to support it. But the subject proposed in this blog, WiFi systems, we will need the internal modem of our Wifi router to be 4G , otherwise we will not be able to connect using this protocol, and then we will not be able to benefit from its advantages .

But what are these advantages that make it so interesting to have 4G technology?

Speed is one of the main advantages. Theoretically an LTE network allows download speeds of up to 100 Mbps, although telephone companies offer average speeds around 20 Mbps and 40 Mbps. Still, the throughput offered is enormous and assumes a huge improvement in throughput over third-generation (3G) mobile networks. In our case, we are using this technology on a Wifi router on board, the improvement in speed will allow us to give better service to our passengers, since the increase in speed will produce a better distribution of flows between users connected in the aim for passengers to have a better perception of the service offered; in summary, passenger satisfaction is the main objective to be sought

by the carrier when deciding to install a Wi-Fi system on its vehicles. And finally, we are going to try another new technology which will help us provide better WiFi service in the vehicle. We're talking about Diversity technology.

What is this new technology?

Basically, what we get from this technology is more stable communication and increased speed.

This technology is based on the use of several antennas for signal reception, separated by a distance of one meter between them in the case of 4G antenna. For example, by combining two separate antennas connected to the same WiFi router , we obtain the reading of the mobile network signal in two copies. With this we will have 2 independent and different readings since the antennas will be in two different places and the coverage of the network of an antenna can be different to the other antenna. From there, the router receives the signals from both antennas and merges them into a single signal. Thanks to this, an incomplete and unstable signal can be completed with the sign of the second antenna and therefore obtain a complete signal with the aim of having a much more stable and fast connection.

Again, as in the case of 4G technology, our equipment must support Diversity technology in order to use it and benefit from its advantages. It is therefore important to have WiFi routers that have Diversity among its technical characteristics, since it will help us to have a more stable and reliable Internet connection for our passengers.
