Integrate systems and signals

This time we're going to talk about WiFi as the communication center of the bus, about its capacities that go far beyond the data connectivity of the on-board devices.

As we all know, there are many devices on board, many of which require a data connection. Some of these devices, in turn, have interfaces that allow other devices to access information about how they work in order to integrate with third-party applications.

In this case, WiFi systems exist with technical capacities to connect to these other on-board devices via the hardware, receive the information and use them. A clear example of this is the integration of the connected video recording systems (DVRs) in the advanced WiFi devices: the transport operator, through the WiFi management application, knows the status of its camera recording systems located in its fleet. This eliminates the need to check the DVRs on site. This is also applicable to other systems such as satellite TV antennas that inform the WiFi router of their status so as to detect anomalies in real time and without leaving the office.

But the opposite can also happen: Our WiFi system can make its own information available to other external applications. For this, our WiFi system must meet a series of advanced requirements that allow us to communicate and, if necessary, do it in several forms, in order to be compatible. A case in point is the GPS positioning obtained through the WiFi router to send to external applications such as the APPs cellphones. Another slightly more technical problem is to divert the traffic generated by the router to one software platform or another, according to the type of service requested, in order to have a specific treatment.

An advanced WiFi solution is capable of integrating both third party signals and its own signals into third party devices.

Of course, to achieve this, the hardware must be advanced, but the accompanying software must be even more advanced to link all the data flows mentioned.
