Integrating systems and signals

In this post, we are going to take the step towards a WiFi system as the communication center of the bus, by discussing the capabilities that the said system can offer in addition to the “normal” data traffic to the passengers' devices.

As we know, there are a large number of systems in the bus, most of which require a data connection, but at the same time, these devices have interfaces that allow other devices to obtain information about its functioning, with the aim of integrating this information into third-party applications.

In this case, there are WiFi systems with the technical features to connect via hardware to other devices on board so that they obtain and use information.

A clear example is the integration of video recording systems (DVRs) connected to advanced Wi-Fi systems, so that the bus operator can check the status of the video systems through the Wi-Fi system management application. This way there is no need to check the DVRs on the spot to make sure they are working. This also applies to other systems, such as those of satellite antennas for television, which in this case can inform the WiFi router of the status they are in and so that we are informed at any time about whether or not functioning of the antennas mentioned, without having to leave the office for this.

The reverse is also possible: our WiFi system can provide information about itself to other systems. To do this, our Wi-Fi system must have a number of properties that make this communication possible, which must also be able to take place in several ways in order to be compatible. A well-known example is using the GPS position obtained by the router to send to remote app locations. Another, more technical example, is being able to forward data traffic in the router to one software platform or to another, depending on the type of service requested.

In conclusion:

An advanced WiFi solution is capable of integrating third-party signals as well as allowing its own signals to be integrated into third-party services.

To achieve this, the hardware must be advanced and combined with an even more advanced software capable of realizing the aforementioned data streams.
