What to do with high vehicles that want to receive dtt channels without fees?

As we discussed in previous posts, there is a problem when receiving the DTT signal in buses operating routes far from urban centers, as the very common shadow areas make it impossible to receive the DTT signal.

These shadow areas are physical and sensitive to non-reception of DTT signal, mainly because they do not have urban areas nearby, so they do not have signal amplifiers that enable the reception of the signal.

There is a solution for this type of vehicles, which is the installation of a satellite antenna that allows them to receive the DTT signal via satellite. It is important to keep in mind that the satellite signal reaches 98% of the country, therefore the coverage is truly wide ranging.

In order to receive this type of satellite DTT channels is basically required to integrate a satellite antenna on the bus. There was a problem associated especially with buses of a height above 3.60 m., in which the antennas available on the market exceeded 35 cm, making it impossible to install.

But there already exist antennas with lower height on the market, that are able to operate even in areas with low satellite’s coverage footprint, which is why we can say that it is possible to access DTT channels in all types of buses regardless of their height.


Besides the satellite antenna, the installation of a SAT-DTT receiver on the bus is necessary. This type of receivers cannot be purchased directly, the processing of a request to the public administration is required, which is what validates that the SAT-DTT is the only possible solution for the reception of DTT channels.

Usually in the area of the bus there is not any problem when accessing such receivers, because as we discussed earlier, there is no possibility of receiving DTT channels in shadow areas, as these are a large number outside the urban centers.

All companies that usually sell this kind of solutions within the bus industry are responsible for dealing with the relevant licenses that allow the installation of such receivers on board for the different buses.
