As we have mentioned in previous posts, one of the reasons it is interesting to have an entertainment system installed on board is the possibility of increasing revenue generation from it. Either through the integration of an online shop, advertising management, payment for internet access or for paid premium content. The truth is that these types of systems, more and more, allow the generation of additional income for bus companies.

We will focus this post on one of the revenue generation modalities that is growing rapidly within the industry: paying for access to premium multimedia content.

One of the most important features of the inflight entertainment systems is undoubtedly the offer that allows to offer a range of multimedia content such as movies, TV series and documentaries. Usually, the multimedia content offered on board belongs to a catalog offered by most licensees of the multimedia content to the operators. This content is usually around a year old and is offered for distribution at very competitive prices. Normally, the bus companies offer their passengers the content without any cost. This is also because the age of the films makes it unlikely that passengers would spend money on them.

At the moment there is the possibility to buy premium content in addition to the 1-2 month old licensed content in order to integrate it with the on-board entertainment systems. Thus, the passenger can have unlimited access during the journey by paying around 1-2 euros per access or 6 euros.

Usually, the revenue of this type of premium content is either shared between the licensing companies or it has a higher price than the regular content. But it is true that, through their integration, they offer the possibility of earning an extra income.

Given the different routes currently covered by the bus sector and the many routes and tours throughout the European continent, the acquisition of a paid system with content is of great interest to companies.

Finally, we want to emphasize the quality that is offered on board with it. In addition, the possibility of increasing sales thanks to the use of an onboard multimedia system.
