Introduction: KPKM and its Innovative Ambition
The Municipal Public Transport Company (KPKM), a privatized public bus company in Poland, was looking for a way to differentiate itself and stand out from the competition. They decided to offer free Wi-Fi to their passengers, an innovative initiative in Poland's public transport sector, with the help of ACO Solutions.
Requirements: Beyond Connectivity
KPKM aimed to become more competitive by offering its passengers stable Wi-Fi, a first in the Polish public transport sector. They needed a system that would handle Internet access for all passengers on board, as well as an integrated fleet management system capable of exporting the collected data. They sought out ACO Solutions, experts in wireless cellular network infrastructure, Wi-Fi network monetization, surveillance and secure data transmission.
Challenge: Finding the Optimal Solution
ACO was challenged to find a cost-effective solution with the best overall performance. After testing devices from several manufacturers for five months, Peplink's MAX BR1 proved to be the only one with 100% uptime and a superior user interface.
Solution: Efficient Implementation with MAX BR1
The installation of the MAX BR1 devices in the KPKM fleet was completed in just two weeks. They were equipped with high gain cellular (up to 11dB) and GPS antennas mounted on the roof of the buses to ensure the best signal quality. Directional antennas were also used to transmit the Wi-Fi signal to passengers inside the bus. The MAX BR1s are equipped with two SIM cards from different operators, which is essential for routes that pass through areas with variable signal availability, thus avoiding interruptions in connectivity.
