What is a personal distraction system?

An individual entertainment system (IDS) is a system that allows a coach passenger to choose the content they want to see independently of other passengers. Seen from another angle, with an SDI the passenger can decide when and how long to see content on the system.

The passenger who benefits from an individual entertainment system on board is the one who builds his own rhythm during the journey, he can decide:
• If he wants entertainment
• choose what type of distraction offered by the operator
• access individually whether video or audio

Content, SDI's biggest challenge

The word “content” mentioned earlier is beginning to take on very broad and varied meanings over the past few years. In fact currently this supposes the greatest challenge of the SDI: to diffuse the contents that the passenger requests (which emphasizes the transport company) is certainly a more difficult challenge than any technical aspect related to the purchase and the 'facility.

Individual sound
Following the introduction of videos in coaches as a collective entertainment (ie all passengers benefit from the same entertainment), individual sound was the first attempt at SDI. With individual sound, the passenger can choose a channel between a set of channels (usually up to 8 channels) and access the contents that reproduce in a linear fashion, or to put it simply, it is or the sound of screen or “one song after another without being able to skip to the next one. ”

Individual video: more than movies
Compared to “video for all”, “ambient music” or “music channels” an SDI is mainly characterized by the fact of offering videos individually for each passenger on the journey. The first idea that comes to mind is: movies, but if we broaden our perspective, we can think of combining these movies with other content : Safety instructions, educational programs, informative content, announcements, short- films, Animations for children, information on our own company….

What can SDI offer these days?

Currently the SDI are able to present the following content:
movie collection (With the extension indicated in the previous paragraph)
Music collection (which makes individual sound unnecessary)
Internet access (with the possibilities that this offers us, including the very useful surveys that allow us to better understand the needs of passengers)
Games
In addition to being able to integrate optional external systems, such as Live Satellite TV while driving . In summary, an SDI endows the coach with possibilities that were only currently attributed to intercontinental flights, to which are added the advantages of the Internet and live TV.

Can I install an SDI in my fleet?
With the SDI we win the loyalty of customers , coach companies that cover regular routes of medium and long distance, VIP vehicles, etc. …vehicles are perfect candidates for the installation of this system, although it is true that technological progress is incessant and the evolution of consumption habits forces companies to update themselves, seizing the opportunity that these technologies can offer us. The SDI allows us to make a qualitative leap which means: – offering travelers the best that can be found on the market – opening a window of communication with the customer. The correct configuration of the contents , its revision according to its acceptance, the periodic renewal to know our most frequent passengers, this will simply become another activity of the company, because it will allow us to get closer to our customers: the passengers.
