How to Increase Fleet Revenue Using Entertainment Systems

The current entertainment systems that are available within the bus industry are very different from those installed 4-5 years ago, on which we could simply view the various multimedia contents of the on-board servers.

Obviously, in the last two years the technological revolution has also reached the multimedia technologies applied to the coach sector and as a result the on-board entertainment systems offer a wide range of applications that allow the possibility of obtaining additional income for bus companies.

There is one sector where "Ancillary Revenue" (revenue generated outside of ticket sales) is really important, and that sector is the airline industry, where a large number of companies around the world come to generate revenue between 10-30% for products other than ticket sales.

One of the systems that allows to generate income of this volume are the on-board entertainment systems that allow the creation of additional lines of income for the coach company, associated with different types of business that we are going to summarize:

• Fees for accessing premium content such as movies, TV series or documentaries; costs that can be afforded at the ticket price or by integrating an online payment platform for access to film viewing.
• The integration of external platforms that integrate services such as the purchase of newspapers, museum entrances, car reservations, hotel reservations….and a percentage of the purchase is donated to the platform, in in this case it is the operator.
• The management and integration of all banners, videos and geo-referenced advertisements on the platform which is offered to the various businesses that pay to be present on the platform.
• Development of the online purchasing platform for products and services on board the coach, such as a catering service, the purchase of souvenirs, etc.

There are more and more entertainment systems that allow the integration of this type of revenue-generating platforms, which is very important when buying this type of systems to contrast the way of obtaining additional income through its use.
