There are several studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in bus safety systems. The French insurer AXA assures that, if we are able to alert the driver 2 seconds before a collision occurs, between 80% and 90% of accidents could be avoided .

The Georgia Tech company , which is dedicated to market research and engineering studies, ensures that 93% of accidents are caused by human factors , and reaches the same conclusion as AXA, that is, if we can alert the driver of possible collisions 2 seconds before they occur, we could avoid between 80% and 90% of them.

As we can see, the two companies offer relevant data on the reason for bus safety systems , which apart from reducing the number of accidents, also help reduce the percentages of other elements such as fearful driving and non-compliance with traffic regulations.

 

How can I integrate artificial intelligence for buses in my fleet?

There are different security solutions for buses based on artificial intelligence, let's see some of them:

Blind Spot Detection : The Blind Spot Detection (BSD) system is a solution aimed at large vehicles, whose field of vision may be smaller. It detects pedestrians, cyclists and other moving objects in real time , within the areas of reduced visibility of the vehicle, through image processing with advanced artificial intelligence. When the person or object moves within the vehicle's safety zone, the system sends a visual and acoustic signal to the driver, alerting the presence of an object in the blind spot.

Driver Facial Monitoring : Driver Status Monitor (DSM) has a large number of applications. Artificial intelligence detects distractions by the driver, if for example someone is smoking, using the phone, or shows signs of drowsiness . This solution, apart from monitoring and recording distracting signals, alerts the driver about the incident by activating an acoustic and light alarm. These incidents are recorded on a server for later evaluation.

360 System and CCTV: The Azimut 360 system works with a series of cameras placed around the vehicle. Each of these cameras collects a large amount of information that is transmitted to the driver in near real time, giving him a peripheral view of what is happening around the vehicle. The system is a great help when driving in the dark (thanks to its night vision), makes maneuvers much easier, and helps avoid collisions.
