Satellite antenna, the best way to receive television without dropouts

As we have commented in previous blog posts, receiving live TV on buses poses some technological challenges that require detailed analysis.

The reception of satellite TV in fixed locations, such as apartments, camping, parked mobile homes, etc. does not pose any technical difficulties. The main reasons for this are as follows:

* Perfect orientation of the selected satellite antenna

* Depending on the signal strength received from the satellite, it is possible to use dishes of different diameters.

The vehicle in motion, as is the case with the bus, faces a double problem. On the one hand, a system that continuously monitors the selected satellite is necessary to receive the various television channels. This is complicated for fixed systems. On the other hand, due to legal regulations, the dimensions and the configuration must be taken into account during the installation, since we e.g. B. cannot install an antenna that increases the height of the bus to more than 4m.

Satellite antenna with auto tracking

From our point of view, installing a satellite antenna with an auto-tracking system to receive the satellite signal at all times is the best solution for enjoying live SAT TV on the bus.

If we are aware that installing a satellite antenna is the best option to receive live TV, the following characteristics must be taken into account to determine which antenna best suits our needs:

• PRICE: The flat antennas (phased-array) are usually more expensive than the conventional antennas.
• TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS: in terms of dimensions and power of the signal received. As we have already mentioned, there are certain buses that, due to their dimensions, cannot install traditional antennas as they would exceed 4m in height. Then again there are satellites that require antennas with a large diameter in order to be visualized, such antennas being impossible to install on coaches.
